USS CHIVO (SS-341)
SHIP'S LOG 1945 - 1971
The CHIVO Ship's Log is an "unofficial history" of the Goat Boat and is
meant to be a reasonably accurate and factual record of actual events in CHIVO's
history, not sea stories. The log is largely based upon the recollections
and submissions of CHIVO crewmembers. The log has only just started and we
need your inputs.
We are talking about
memories going back as far as 1945, and individual remembrances may be different or
incomplete. Therefore submissions and log entries will be subject to the friendly
challenges of other CHIVO crewmembers. Each log entry will include the originator's
name, years on board, and e-mail address. "Competing entries" will be
allowed to co-exist in the log until resolved. We may have several versions of
the same event, which hopefully will inspire old shipmates to communicate with each other
and resolve their different recollections.
Leroy Collins (58-60) is
spearheading this effort and has offered to be the "sea trial" editor of the
ship's log. As editor he will also be the final arbiter on all competing entries.
All submissions should be sent by e-mail or postal mail to him at:
