  06 July 1971   - USS CHIVO (SS-341) is decommissioned and stricken from the list of active naval ships.   EX USS CHIVO is transferred to the Argentine government and commissioned as the ARA SANTIAGO DEL ESTERRO (S-22) under the command of Juan C. Malugani, CDR.
