  1965   - USS CHIVO made a four month Mediterranean deployment which included port visits to Lisbon, Portugal; Roa and Barcelona, Spain; Cannes, France; and Naples, Italy.

  1965   - Following a GTMO deployment later in 1965, USS CHIVO made a training cruise with reserve unit 8-95 from Houston, Texas.   As a result, USS CHIVO was the subject of o one half hour program on Houston TV.
